Foundation Level

The Reception class is vital to your child as they begin a life-long educational journey. We have high expectations and find the children flourish as their rapid learning gives them the confidence to strive ever higher. From their entry to Grosvenor in the September following their 4th birthday they are given the foundations on which to build all future learning.

Our aims are for each child to:

• settle happily into School life with confidence and ease
• develop the skills of literacy and numeracy necessary to progress through the education system
• have access to a broad curriculum base
• develop a confident and positive attitude
• learn about and understand their place in the diverse world in which we live.

Your child will follow The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum as laid out by The Government and progress towards Key Stage 1. The children are based in their own classroom and are taught by two Reception teachers and a teaching assistant. Subject specialists teach Science, Music, ICT and P.E. This high level of staffing allows teaching on a group or individual basis, depending on the need of the child.
