Friends Of Grosvenor School Introduction 2

WHO ARE THE FrOGS?

All parents automatically become members of FrOGS when they send their children to Grosvenor School. We are not a PTA.

There is no cost involved. Everyone is invited to all the events run by FrOGS and everyone is encouraged to get involved.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We organise events for the enjoyment of the parents and/or children. As a result we often raise money which is used for the children’s benefit. We provide “extras” that they might not otherwise have or support school projects. We also help promote the school through our activities.

COMMUNICATION

Forthcoming dates for events, along with updates and requests for help are sent out in the School Newsletter. There is also a notice board at the front door of the main building. Meeting dates and FrOGS event dates will be posted on the Diary of Events page on the website. Each form has a form representative who can act as a valuable communication link. Please feel free to ask for information or tell them what suggestions you may have.

Alternatively, we have a suggestion box under the FrOGS notice board. Please complete the forms by the box in the porch which has the following information requests:

I AM HAPPY TO HELP / I CAN DO:  NAME – EMAIL – CONTACT - SUBJECT – MESSAGE

We will be most grateful for donations of Raffle Prizes, your free time – however limited – or contacts and skills we can utilize.

Alternatively, please email frogs@grosvenorschool.co.uk

HOW DO WE SPEND THE MONEY WE RAISE?

We are happy to receive any suggestions from parent’s and children as to where the money should be spent. The teachers always have ideas too. The “extras” help to keep school exciting and cheerful. To quote the Inspectors, our “Happy Place”

MISSING RAFFLE PRIZE

Tuesday 13th July

We are trying to locate the yellow garden hamper which was accidentally picked up by somebody at the garden party. If you collected it by mistake, could you please return it to the office as it belongs to Mrs Chapman. We shall then replace it with your own prize.

Thank you.

AGM

Monday 28th June

Every year we will be holding our AGM in June to report on the previous year's work and elect the new committee members. This is a meeting for all members of FrOGS not just elected committee members ie. every parent with a child at Grosvenor. It is our chance to tell you about our achievements and the difference the FrOGS have made. We need the support of parents so that decisions taken at the AGM are valid and in line with our constitution. Please register your interest in attending by emailing carolinenowicki@gmail.com or leaving a note to that effect with the office.

The AGM will be held at 7.00pm in the school hall.

Please pick up a nomination form from the FrOGS table if you wish to join the committee.

WORLD CUP NIGHT - ENGLAND V ALGERIA

Friday 18th June

Football was terrible, lets be honest! However we consoled ourselves with a great curry, good company and a few beers. The kids entertained themselves with a hotdog, facepainting, and a more talented bit of ball play on the court than was to be seen on the TV. Most of the children watched in The Bungalow, so they could also relax and watch the game with their friends.

Thank you to the teachers, FrOGS, especially those in the kitchen who made it all happen, Lalon and of course all the parents who came along to support the event.

NCPTA NEWSLETTER

Monday 14th June

The FrOGS are now members of the NCPTA an organisation which supports PTA's and similar groups. This months news report is now available and parents are welcome to read it for themselves. Ask your form representative for the membership number and you can log onto their website at www.ncpta.org.uk

GROSVENOR SCHOOL PLAY

Thursday 6th May

Well done to everyone for a wonderful performance in YE HA.

Thank you also to the ladies who kept the drinks flowing freely during the interval.

QUIZ NIGHT 2010

Friday 19th March

A big thank you to the teachers for organising the quiz night and their families who helped, together with the FrOGS who lent a hand with the food and bar.

This event once again sold out and we all had a really good time.

Congratulations of course must be given to the winning team.

Junior School Christmas Party 2009

Friday 11th December

Thank you to the FrOGS for a lovely Christmas party. The magician wowed the children before they came to eat their Christmas fare. Santa then made a quick visit to bring gifts for each class and sweeties for the boys and girls. Happy Christmas everybody.

SK8 AT GROSVENOR 2009

Saturday 28th November

What a great day for some fun. Although rather cold, the rain held off.

The fairground organ really helped add to the atmosphere and we were all warmed up with drinks of hot chocolate, mulled wine and large roast pork rolls.

The ladies in the hall stood all afternoon serving freshly made soup and huge selections of cake and cups of tea and coffee.

As the afternoon drew to a close the fairy lights twinkled in the dark as the choir sang Christmas carols.

Thank you to the FrOGS for giving us such a great day on Saturday.

Thank you also to the staff and parents who helped. Everybody worked really hard.

Last, but not least, thank you of course to everybody who came to have a good time.
